Gigantic development in battery technology

1,000 km WLTP range, 700 km recharged in 10 minutes – with completely different, sustainable, unproblematic raw materials.

In addition to the optimised manufacturing processes and shaping of the battery packs, which enable ranges of 1,000 km, there is a new anode material (negative electrode): hollow carbon spheres with silicon, which allow an additional 30–40% range, bringing it to approx. 1,300 to 1,400 km. The cathode – the positive electrode – has also been improved.

Battery vehicles have the lowest greenhouse gas emissions, the best energy efficiency and the lowest costs. There is a general trend away from critical raw materials and towards cheaper manufacturing costs.

  • Cheaper, more abundant materials
  • Manufacturing process with lower energy input
  • Use of 100% renewable energy in production
  • Improvements in chemistry and engineering
    • Chemistry:
      • Approx. 10–20% increase in capacity through better cathodes, … higher voltage and capacity
      • Approx. 30–40% through better anodes with silicon & carbon composites
      • Battery free of critical raw materials
    • Engineering:

Batteries with optimised pack design allow longer range, faster charging and greater safety

BYD, CATL, NIO: 1,000 km WLTP range, 700 km recharged in 10 min, market launch planned from 2023. In addition, 11 gigafactories are currently being built in Germany, all in the north, because that is where most renewable energy is available. This of course has an enormous impact on the energy transition, with enormous, extremely cheap storage technology, as well as on the e-car as a balancing power plant.
