The Rubikon says thank you

The Rubikon says thank you

The Rubikon has been richly rewarded: with attention, donations and sales success for our books – now we want to give something back.

“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re misinformed,” Mark Twain said. The sentence is apt; at first it seems funny, but at heart it is frightening and sad. Is there really no “third way” between total media abstinence and permanent propaganda?

For more than four years, we at Rubikon have been trying to show such a way and to be part of the solution. In the current rigid climate of opinion, it is inevitable that we too come under fire – like every medium that has become so relevant that it can no longer be ignored. Our online magazine dared and won. The popularity of the magazine and the brilliant success of the recently founded book publisher bear witness to this. Now it is time to say “Thank you!” to all our companions, supporters and confidants. We do this by sharing our joy and our success: with words – thank you! Great! All of you! – as well as deeds. Namely by giving gifts that strengthen both our readers and civil society.

On a small scale like this: we want our readers and civil society to share in our success and are therefore giving away 100 copies of each of our successful corona books to those readers who write to us first – and who cannot, or can no longer, afford to buy a book at the moment.

Since enlightenment must not be a privilege of the wealthy, there is no paywall in our web magazine either, no articles that suddenly break off in an attempt to cash in on readers’ curiosity. With books there is such a paywall for obvious reasons: producing and distributing books costs money, and the lion’s share of the revenue stays with the trade. But we want to lift this paywall at least for some of our readers. We are talking about 100 times 4 books, that is, 400 gifts. 100 each of “Meine Pandemie mit Professor Drosten”, “Das Corona-Dossier”, “Wer, wenn nicht Bill?” and “Falsche Pandemien”.

Please send your “applications” together with your postal address, naming the book you would like and at least one alternative, to leserbriefe@rubikon.news (the campaign has ended and the address no longer exists).

The great initial success of our Rubikon book publisher, however, puts us in a position to do considerably more. We would never have dreamed that our titles in the corona enlightenment offensive would go through the roof like this. Walter van Rossum, Flo Osrainik and Sven Böttcher delivered three Spiegel bestsellers in a row.

The fourth is already on its way: Dr Wolfgang Wodarg’s first book on the corona crisis, “Falsche Pandemien. Argumente gegen die Herrschaft der Angst” (False pandemics. Arguments against the rule of fear). Mood of the times, topic, author and publisher could hardly fit together better. And further books on exciting topics are already in preparation. The Rubikon publisher has thus also become attractive for authors who want to take part prominently in the political debates of the time.

Since press freedom is currently in danger (German) as hardly ever before, we have just donated a large part of our publishing revenue from our first three bestsellers of the corona enlightenment offensive and given the following three independent political web magazines a major donation of 10,000 euros each:

We do this because we do not regard other free and independent media, especially those that have defied all hostility and an adverse mood of the times on the corona question, as opponents with whom we “wrestle” for market share. Rather, we are happy not to stand alone with our way of thinking and our spirit of resistance. Anyone who sees only competitors in like-minded people is already dancing to the tune of the capitalist counter-forces.

We will transfer a fourth donation of 10,000 euros the moment Wolfgang Wodarg’s “Falsche Pandemien” also lands on the Spiegel bestseller list – most likely next week. Namely to:

We consider the Federal Ministry of Health’s current use of funds irresponsible, because the approximately 1 to 3 billion euros of monthly costs for Covid tests (German) means the money is lacking everywhere else. Above all for those who already have the heaviest burden to bear: the seriously ill, the very old and children.

At this point we thank all authors and advisory board members of Rubikon, everyone in the team and the wider circle who resisted the temptation to join the unfortunate fashion of distancing oneself – who stayed with us or have only recently discovered us. For the commitment to consistent humanity, to freedom, peace and today above all to the re-humanisation of health policy needs people who do not immediately retract their critical statements at the slightest frown from mainstream journalists or “Antifa” opinion guardians.

But above all we thank all our readers who have walked this path with us so far and want to continue. Even silent loyalty is a great value these days, and it encourages us. Even nicer, of course, when friendly letters reach us showing that with our publications we have been able to give many people important insights for their path and encourage them. Some even wrote to us that we had saved them from “going mad” or from feeling completely alone in an environment that had become alien to them.
