20 basic incomes of 12,000 euros each to be raffled again
In six years, a non-profit NGO has given away 648 basic incomes – and it carries on.
On 12 August, another 20 basic incomes of 12,000 euros each will be raffled. They have been financed by 130,000 donors. Anyone can win.
In view of the corona crisis, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) recently proposed a temporary basic income for almost three billion people worldwide (German) who simply cannot afford to stay at home. Without savings or income, they are forced to leave their homes every day for work and thus expose themselves to a higher risk of infection. The corona pandemic shows us drastically that health is also a financial question.
We at Mein Grundeinkommen (German) have seen this impressively in our 648 winners as well. Every second German is at risk of burnout. Our society is burning out, even though we live in the midst of abundance. Our winners are less stressed, they sleep better and make more room for self-care.
That is why for six years we have been trying out what is being debated and demanded more heatedly than ever today: a basic income – and not only for those in need, but for everyone. Soon it will be time again, and we will raffle 20 basic incomes of 12,000 euros each for one year. You are warmly invited to join in.
The online draw takes place live on Wednesday, 12 August, at 7 pm
Draw of 20 unconditional basic incomes in the livestream on the Mein Grundeinkommen website (German)
Taking part is free of charge. Anyone who registers on the Mein Grundeinkommen (German) website can take part, regardless of nationality or age.
A basic income makes you healthier – isn’t that a bit far-fetched? Two of our winners had Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory bowel disease that can also have psychosomatic causes. Since their basic income year they have been free of flare-ups. Winner Marc above all emphasises the unconditional nature of the basic income payments:
Thanks to my basic income I am regaining my inner stability and recovering my strength in a healthy way. Without cortisone, and all the more sustainably for it. With sickness benefit I felt constant pressure. Without it I am far more constructive and feel no debt of gratitude.
Mein Grundeinkommen is both a non-profit start-up and a young NGO. Donations are collected via crowdfunding, and as soon as 12,000 euros have been raised, they are raffled as an unconditional basic income of 1,000 euros a month. The response is huge: founded five years ago, today we are fuelling the debate on unconditional basic income with more than 1.5 million users and 100,000 large and small donors.
