META education as a skill for the future
META education as a skill for the future
META education means reflecting on one’s own educational process. For it is not only about being educated (e.g. acquiring knowledge or developing skills), but also about understanding how and why one educates oneself, and critically questioning education as a process. In a world in which knowledge multiplies every day, classical learning – the mere absorption of information – is no longer enough. Successful education today means not only knowing what you are learning, but also understanding how you learn. This is exactly where our concept of META education comes in.
META education is the all-encompassing process of developing and unfolding those abilities that enable people to learn, develop their performance potential, act, solve problems and shape relationships. It is about awareness instead of mere absorption of knowledge.
Those who practise meta-education become reflective learners. They recognise that education is not a state but a process: open and never finished.
It is about understanding, questioning and consciously shaping one’s own learning process. Learners thus develop a metacognitive awareness: they know how they learn, why certain strategies work and when they need to be adapted.
And perhaps this is precisely the deepest form of education – the one that makes us not only cleverer, but more aware and self-determined.
Benefits of META education:
🌱 Greater motivation to learn through self-efficacy
🧩 Independence and self-determination in the learning process
🔄 Adaptability to new situations
💬 Reflective thinking and critical handling of information
🚀 More efficient learning through targeted strategies
💡 Deep understanding instead of superficial rote learning
🌱 Motivation and resilience, because learning is experienced as meaningful
Potentials, abilities and skills: three levels of personal development
💎 Potentials: what is inside us
Potential literally means: what is possible. It describes the not yet fully developed resources, talents and aptitudes that lie dormant in a person. Potentials are like seeds – they need the right conditions to grow.
Characteristics of potentials:
- They are not immediately measurable, but can be recognised through curiosity, motivation or talent.
- They develop through support, feedback and experience.
- They are closely linked to self-confidence and willingness to learn.
🎯 Goal: to discover potentials and turn them into development processes.
💪 Abilities: the bridge between potential and action
Abilities are the result when potentials are consciously developed and trained. They describe mental, social or physical competences that someone can apply in different situations.
Examples:
- analytical thinking
- empathy
- a feel for language
- organisational talent
Abilities do not develop overnight – they grow through learning, practice and reflection. This is where META education also plays a major role: those who understand how they learn can work specifically on their abilities.
🧩 Abilities = potentials + learning + experience
🛠️ Skills: ability in action
While abilities are of a more general nature, skills describe concrete, practical implementation. They are trained actions that become automatic through repetition.
Examples:
- playing an instrument
- giving a presentation
- using a programming language
- shooting a ball accurately
Skills are therefore what you can actually do – they make competence visible and measurable.
The aim of TAPOJA is to connect these levels and make them visible in a potential development plan.
💡 For those who know their potentials, train their abilities and apply their skills experience self-efficacy – the feeling of being able to shape their own lives.
PEP© – potential development plan

1. Introductory conversation
Through an initial analysis in an introductory conversation, the potential counsellor from the TAPOJA association gains insights into the individual characteristics, interests, needs and wishes of the family.
2. Human Design
A Human Design basic reading is now an innovative tool for assessing one’s own personality. A system that, as a holistic model, combines the traditional teachings of astrology, chakras, Kabbalah and I Ching with the modern sciences of astrophysics and genetics in order to describe a person’s individual blueprint.

3. Potential development plan
The potential development plan then drawn up by our potential counsellors is a tailored and accompanied strategy for the individual person, which includes accompanied and guided processes for formal and non-formal education, vocational training and personal development.
4. Process support
In process support, detailed steps of the potential development plan are now defined in sub-areas and implemented in individual coaching sessions together with our potential counsellors and experts in their field.
