Metal-free battery cells from Sakuu

Sakuu presents an innovative battery cell without metals

The Sakuu cell uses a licensed lithium-metal chemistry that has already achieved over 1,000 cycles with 80% energy retention and meets all commercial criteria. With these properties, the Sakuu cell is a promising alternative to battery technologies based on metals.

Sakuu has developed a new kind of battery cell that offers the following advantages:

  • Lower costs: Doing without expensive metals such as copper and aluminium can cut costs by around 7%
  • Greater safety: Controlling the conductivity of the current collectors can prevent violent thermal runaway. A nail penetration test showed no rise in temperature
  • Simpler manufacturing: The cell is made in a dry printing process, which allows earlier quality control and reuse of material
  • Space-saving design: Using tabless mono-cells, the cells can be stacked bipolarly in a space-saving way without having to be welded

POWER STORAGE FROM WEST

Wright Energy Storage Technologies (WEST) is an American company that has been manufacturing supercapacitor-based power storage, mainly in South Africa, for over 8 years. With its SuperCap technology it is ushering in a new age of energy storage – because capacitors are advantageous electrostatic storage devices; that is their nature. At the same time, the disadvantages of chemical batteries are eliminated.

We have been offered the distribution of this technology and will soon take up this topic – as announced at the congress in Fellbach – and provide data & facts.
