NEW: Raf tomatoes from El Perelló (Spain)

We are delighted to offer our customers another delicacy from our home region.

Fresh tomatoes with a designation of origin, delivered straight to your door. El Perelló is a small village 12 km from Cullera, right on the beach and entirely within the “Parc Natural de l’Albufera” nature park. The tomatoes from El Perelló are very well known in Valencia because of their excellent and intense flavour, which comes from the sandy, highly saline soil in which they are grown.

We think you will notice the difference in taste compared with the tomatoes you can find in the supermarket, and that you will take advantage of buying through a short supply chain. These are tomatoes picked on the same day they are shipped, which we in turn buy from the fruit and vegetable cooperative of El Perelló. You receive these tomatoes without any kind of post-harvest treatment.

We launched this initiative for two reasons. On the one hand, we would like to keep some of our staff on permanent contracts outside the citrus season as well, sparing them fixed-term employment contracts. On the other hand, we want to overcome the difficulties our company has in keeping specialised staff from one season to the next.

Our customers can order tomatoes from El Perelló right away, in the quantities offered of 4.3, 8.6 or 12.9 kg. You can also choose to order oranges as well – if any are still available – which makes shipping cheaper. For ecological and economic reasons, we will ship the tomatoes until mid-June, since after that you will have tomatoes from growing areas closer to you in your own country.

Shipments always go out on Mondays, to shorten the transport time to your home. The tomatoes are harvested on the Monday morning itself, at a degree of ripeness that allows them to arrive ready to eat. If you keep them cool, they will stay in perfect condition for up to a week.
