Scholé News – December 2022
Winter solstice. Even the longest night comes to an end at some point.
Slowly and almost imperceptibly, it will grow lighter again. Many of us feel exhausted because we have been swimming against the current for so long. Let us take heart, for if we inwardly prepare ourselves for the solstice of 2022 to be followed by a turning point in time, we actively help to promote the rise of the forces of light on all levels.
Energy follows attention – that is an irrefutable spiritual law. That is why confidence and joyful anticipation are the best counsellors if we want to live in freedom in future! But what does living in freedom mean? Can we even imagine it? No! And we should not even try. Firstly, our imagination is limited by thousands of years of oppression, and secondly, if the future is to be truly free and self-determined, it has to remain open :-)
To make the global state of waiting in which we currently find ourselves tangible, I would like to draw once more on the beautiful parable of the caterpillar and the butterfly. The clumsy, greedy caterpillar probably cannot imagine either that one day it will float through the air as a delicate, winged creature…
Following an irrefutable law of nature, one day it stops eating and pupates. Seen from the outside, total standstill now sets in. Inside the larva, however, a veritable battle is raging. One after another, the caterpillar cells have to be dissolved in order to re-form as butterfly cells. Applied to us humans, this would mean (expressed in the language of the Bible) that bit by bit we have to “put off the old man”, who was concerned only with power, prestige and material pleasures.
For us, as for the caterpillar cells, the inevitable process of transformation is an extremely strenuous and painful affair, especially in the initial phase. As long as the caterpillar cells form an overwhelming majority, the whole organism is of course still animated by the old caterpillar consciousness. The caterpillar’s immune defence therefore resists, as usual, everything it identifies as a foreign body and tries to destroy the first newly formed imaginal cells. Comparable to this in the human world are the aggressive, irrational attacks by a numerically far superior majority of defenders of the old order against a small minority of peace-loving lateral thinkers who resist group pressure and dare to dream of great social change.
The famous example of the caterpillar and the butterfly gives hope, I find, because it reminds us that natural processes are irreversible. There is no going back – neither for caterpillars that have entered the pupal stage nor for people who have seriously committed themselves to their inner transformation.
The natural process of development advances inexorably. In the butterfly larva, more and more caterpillar cells dissolve. The imaginal cells that emerge from them begin to connect with one another – and at some point the miracle of the change of consciousness takes place: the organism inside the protective pupal case suddenly no longer feels like a dying caterpillar but like a butterfly in the making!
Some things suggest that humanity is on the verge of a comparable leap in consciousness. It will affect us all! The phase of networking among those willing to change is already in full swing worldwide. But from the moment the constructive forces gain the upper hand, the overall atmosphere will change abruptly.
Wars and destructive conflicts of all kinds will come to a standstill. Lies and frauds will no longer be swept under the carpet. The fighters for a better world, some of them already very exhausted, will unite and thus come into their full strength. The victims of defamation and persecution will be rehabilitated. And the particularly widespread type of follower who always swims with the current will suddenly feel the urge to run in the opposite direction…
With the dawn of the butterfly era, the hour of self-determined people strikes. Even today they are the pioneers of a new era, because they know what it means to follow their inner voice. Inwardly they feel connected to a higher authority; they need neither external incentives nor rewards. Because they know their individual strengths and know how to maintain their boundaries, they are capable of cooperation. They do not feel the need to hoard material goods out of fear and worry about survival, but are able to share and to enjoy a good life for all in leisure. Such “new people” are not only found in the small, widely scattered community of free learners; they exist all over the world – and they recognise one another.
The transhumanists who dream of global domination can only make the evils of this world – whether injustice, war, disease or climate crisis – even worse with their sorcerer’s-apprentice techniques. It is best for us to ignore them, their lies, their staged catastrophes and the horror scenarios whose sole purpose is to keep us in fear and dependence.
What is true is that it is not the Earth that needs humans to save it, but humans who need the Earth! And that we humans do not need rulers; rather, those in power are 100% dependent on the labour of their subjects. As soon as we refuse to obey them and take our affairs into our own hands, they are finished. Clairvoyant people confirm that on the subtle level the end of the misanthropic power elites has already been sealed.
What comes after that is a mystery. Our extremely limited intellect is unable to grasp the completely other, the entirely new. Let us take to heart Socrates’ insight that ultimately we know nothing, and therefore cannot plan or calculate our future. Like children at play, let us rather leave the lead to more reliable authorities: the felt awareness of our body and the wisdom of our soul. May the wonderful poem by the German poet and mystic Andreas Gryphius (1616–1664) serve us as a signpost:
Mine are not the years that time has taken from me. Mine are not the years that may perhaps yet come. The moment is mine, and if I heed it well, then He is mine who made both year and eternity.
Looking forward to what is to come, Alexandra
2nd edition of “Lernen ist wie Atmen” (Learning is like breathing)

The 2nd edition of our book meets a completely changed readership.
In 2017, the idea that learning outside school was possible at all was considered the eccentric notion of a few outsiders. Since then, all parents, whether they wanted to or not, have had to deal with forms of learning outside school.
The number of children withdrawn from school has exploded since then, and alternative learning projects are springing up like mushrooms.
