EVN's statements on smart meter installation
SMART METERS: these are the statements people in Lower Austria should refer to!
As you can see, the protests are having their first successes:
The grid operator will “certainly not” pick a fight with customers who reject the smart meter (opt-out): “We are happier with customers who, when opting out, take the electronic meter with its functions deactivated. But otherwise a customer can also keep the Ferraris meter. In addition, EVN has tens of thousands of Ferraris meters in stock. So there are plenty of them. They would just have to keep using them.
“It makes sense for those customers who have a photovoltaic system on the roof and an electric car in the garage,” says Stefan Zach, spokesman for EVN … EVN has had different experiences in this respect: “In the trial phase we had refusal rates of over 30 per cent,” says spokesman Zach. Customers of the Lower Austrian energy supplier should be able to decide for themselves which device they want to use. “Anyone who wants to keep their Ferraris meter can do so. Even if that turns out to be more than five per cent,” Zach explains.
We are grateful for the friendly networking and will continue to help raise awareness of this topic. For more details on the smart meter campaign, please contact the initiators of the campaign directly.
