News | There is something to celebrate!
As already announced in the invitation email in mid-November, there is something to celebrate.
The association Generation Grundeinkommen (Generation Basic Income) was founded on 19 January 2017.
Reason enough to celebrate the idea of a UBI and its dissemination by the association on 19 January. The celebration will take place in the festival hall of the Rudolf Steiner School Mauer, 1230 Vienna.
If Omicron & co. allow it, on the day of our 5th anniversary we would like to present our milestones so far, and how things will continue in the near future, to everyone interested and all our supporters at a celebration.
Take a look: our video series on UBI (German)
We are delighted to present, in our last newsletter of this year, the first part of an 8-part video series that describes very clearly and in detail how a UBI could be implemented. For numerous aspects that may at first glance seem like insurmountable challenges to some, approaches to solutions are presented which show that it would nevertheless actually be feasible – and above all how it could work. The first part, “History and basics”, is about when and how the idea of basic income arose and on which fundamental considerations this vision is based.
What is the trade union doing?
In its newly published brochure “Auf sicherem Grund – Impulse und Ideen zu Grundsicherung und Grundeinkommen” (On safe ground – impulses and ideas on basic security and basic income), the trade union group AUGE Upper Austria examines the ecological as well as the psychological and social effects of a UBI. Besides Generation Grundeinkommen, with its two contributions “What is work and how much is it worth?” and “Basic income, basic security, job guarantee – what is the difference?”, well-known politicians, pastoral workers, artists, scientists … have their say.
We wish everyone happy and restful days with their loved ones, a lively turn of the year, and health, confidence and inner peace as companions into a hopeful 2022!
