Tesla's market value rises to 731 billion dollars

Tesla's market value rises to 731 billion dollars

Again and again the same remark comes up: “Once an electric car offers a range of 1,000 km, it will be interesting.”

Let me say right away: these questions always come from exactly those people who only want to drive several hundred kilometres in one go a few times a year, for a holiday trip – which is actually insignificant. Apparently this is range anxiety that comes from fossil thinking, from people who have never travelled extensively with electric cars and have no experience – concerns, in other words, that electric car drivers do not even know …

Comparison of charging points per 100,000 inhabitantsIn the EU there are almost 173,000 public charging stations (as of week 14 of 2020), around 5,000 of them in Austria – twice as many as the approximately 2,400 fossil-fuel filling stations (see comparison, German).

High-mileage drivers who cover tens of thousands of kilometres a year clearly confirm that with today’s battery technology, 400–600 km is completely sufficient – like my friend Helmut, who for 6 years has been covering around 80,000 km a year across half of Europe in his Tesla.

He in particular is living proof of how e-mobility works, offers the highest quality of life and makes stress-free driving possible. He used to have an Audi A6, with which he often drove 1,000 km in one go at 200 km/h, but afterwards lost an enormous amount of energy through hours of extreme concentration and needed ever longer recovery periods – essentially he was no further and no faster, in fact slower and far more expensive (running costs, servicing, repairs and fuel for the A6) on the road than he is today with his Tesla.

His journey often starts from Vienna to Salzburg, where, as a responsible driver, he takes a break, drinks his coffee or prepares for his customer visits. Charging times are valuable for him to do office work in between, run an errand or go shopping. Travelling relaxed at the permitted speed on motorways, and in (semi-)autonomous driving mode at that, even brings rest instead of the pure stress and nervous strain of the past. His radius of action covers Slovakia, Croatia, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria.

Helmut is not the only one who drives so many kilometres and long distances with his electric car – it is precisely frequent travellers and long-distance drivers who prefer the electric vehicle to a combustion car because of its many advantages.

A range of 1,000 km is a joke – electric vehicles can drive infinitely far … says Helmut.

Tesla share priceThat precisely this concept of travel and mobility is meeting with enormous enthusiasm worldwide is confirmed by Tesla’s unimaginable success – with the highest sales figures worldwide and huge enthusiasm among investors – which took Tesla’s market value at the start of 2021 to an unimaginable historic high of 731 billion dollars, unlike anything seen before. Tesla is now valued at 7 times VW and 10 times Mercedes. On top of that, Tesla has hardly any debt.

Debt levels in the car industryVW, BMW and Mercedes have liabilities more than twice as high as their market values. They are in a fatal situation – right now, in the middle of the complete conversion of their entire production to e-mobility, with additional gigantic investments in battery and cell production, where they have been lagging behind for years, while their software development is still in the Stone Age … even as self-driving cars are already being launched in major cities in the USA, China …

The trend of self-destruction in the European car industry is thus continuing unchecked. While VW, BMW, Mercedes … somehow have to manage the turnaround to e-mobility with extreme cost-cutting, plant closures and a great loss of substance, Tesla can easily finance further promising projects itself with just a few lucrative share sales. A win-win situation … with an immense economic and technical lead. Whether in autonomous driving, in its entire “over-the-air management” or in battery technology, Tesla is at least 6–10 years ahead of the rest of the car industry, especially the European one.

Anyone who still asks today when an electric car will have a range of 1,000 km has not understood in the slightest the gigantic transformation of the entire economy (agriculture included) – let alone e-mobility.

This confirms precisely that thought patterns from the past (a range of 1,000 km as with diesel and petrol) have no future, while new technologies such as e-mobility, autonomous driving and sharing are already shaping the market and have long been among the global technology leaders and winners – while the others stand at the edge of the abyss …

Tesla proves and confirms the opportunity for the entire energy, agricultural and mobility transition. All those who still defend the old fossil system, and even cling to it, have already lost without a chance; massive economic slumps in ALL areas confirm this trend anew every day. You only need a little common sense to see this; many experts are completely unsuited to it anyway, because they in particular are usually the problem and not the solution.

Those who have already understood and act accordingly are among the winners today.
