The (first real?) perpetual motion machine

The (first real?) perpetual motion machine

There is no such thing as a perpetual motion machine?

I’m no longer quite so sure about that, because on two visits to the excellent Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Museum of Technology) I spent over three hours without working out how the perpetual motion machine exhibited there works. It was built by David E. H. Jones – better known by his pen name “Daedalus” as an employee of the fictitious firm “Dreadco”.

Can you find the well-hidden secret? Let me know your ideas in the comments as to how the wheel is driven – that is, where the energy is fed in.

This is how the user “LuiKast” described his documentary video on YouTube back in August 2015. Everyone can form their own opinion: (P.S.: We received the link from our member Carsten W. Thank you, Carsten!)

Thumbs upFor years we have also been carrying around the idea of offering a device that sustainably generates energy to a technical museum. There could hardly be a better lasting “proof of concept”.

We are optimistic that the time will come soon.
