We finally need clean corona data

Viviane Fischer respects the coronavirus, fears for her and our economic and social future, and fears most of all for democracy. Because by now there are many statements by renowned experts that corona is about as (un)dangerous as influenza and that the entire lockdown is pointless and even harmful. She has started a petition in Germany.

By now there are many statements by renowned experts that corona is about as (un)dangerous as influenza and that the entire lockdown is pointless and even harmful, because the whole data basis is wrong.

We need a so-called baseline study to get an accurate picture of how the virus is spreading in the population, how high immunity already is and what the death rate actually is. In a baseline study, a demographically representative group is tested repeatedly in order to reliably determine the speed at which the virus spreads and how aggressive it is.

Personal note: when I flew back to Frankfurt last weekend from visiting an inventor in Asia, there were neither measurements nor any indication of tests on arrival, let alone any kind of “state of emergency”. *surprisesmequiteabit*
