Website updates
“May makes everything new” was the plan 😅
The timing didn’t quite work out. But the result is worth seeing. The current overhaul of our GAIA online platform is once again a milestone towards “modern & functional”. At times it was a turbulent undertaking for our historically grown website with almost 2,000 posts, which have been published continuously with various applications over 12 years.
First of all, we needed to take a step back to gather momentum. Visitor numbers keep rising (for which we are grateful) and were pushing our previous infrastructure towards its limits. What have we worked out and implemented? Here are some facts about the website project:
- New header – more visible reading area, especially on mobile devices
- New footer – improved look and function, especially on mobile devices
- New menu structure – improved look and navigation, especially on mobile
- New search – centrally accessible via the menu bar in all views
- New theme – fewer elements, an undisturbed reading area, improved look
- New functions (newsletter) – simplified subscription, improved look
- Faster page load (the core of the renewal) – more resources for more simultaneous visitors
