GAIA. The movement for more independence and freedom

We offer alternatives for everyone looking for more freedom and independence.

Together we question the topics society has established for us and work on solutions that bring more freedom and self-sufficiency for us and our children. We often take unconventional paths. Just because something “has always been that way” does not mean it has to stay that way forever. GAIA – the Society for Self-Sufficiency – is funded by the voluntary membership fees of everyone who wants to be part of this movement.

In our view, none of the areas in which we work towards more independence receive adequate support from either politics or business. Knowledge about them is scarce. Many people experience the current social system as paternalistic and see it as clinging to old patterns. Those who are searching find few alternatives. When established systems are confronted with ideas of freedom, this is often perceived as a “disturbance of order”. But perhaps existing systems are simply no longer able to question themselves.
