EDUCATIONAL EVOLUTION – Ways Out of the State Education Crisis
The need for fundamental change in the education system
Ricardo Leppe’s talk “BILDUNGSEVOLUTION: Auswege aus der staatlichen Bildungsmisere” (Educational evolution: ways out of the state education crisis), given at the Atlas Initiative, addresses the need for fundamental change in the education system. Leppe stresses that the traditional school system often suppresses creativity and neglects pupils’ intrinsic motivation. He argues for a transformative approach in which learning is fostered through curiosity, joy and practical application.
Key points of the talk
- Awakening curiosity: Ricardo Leppe underlines the importance of linking educational content to real-life scenarios and pupils’ interests in order to increase their engagement.
- Decentralising the education system: He calls for individualised and local teaching methods instead of standardised approaches.
- Cooperation and self-determination: Education should be a collaborative process in which pupils can actively help shape their learning paths.
- Technology and innovation: Modern tools and innovative methods should be integrated more into teaching in order to prepare pupils better for the future.
- Learning as a lifelong process: Education should foster the joy of lifelong learning instead of relying only on exams and rote learning.
Criticism of the current system
Ricardo Leppe criticises rigid structures in state education systems that often overburden teachers and pupils alike. Instead, he proposes a flexible and adaptable learning environment that supports pupils’ individual abilities.
Talk, 50 min Ricardo Leppe as a guest of the ATLAS INITIATIVE (German)
Who is Ricardo Leppe? Ricardo Leppe was originally an Austrian magician and memory trainer. As a child he was taught by his parents during long journeys. Through his work as a memory trainer he visited many schools and went on to give talks on alternative learning techniques. In April 2020 Ricardo Leppe founded the association “WissenSchafft Freiheit” (Knowledge Creates Freedom) and has since been helping a growing number of like-minded parents and teachers to found free schools – on the basis of up-to-date knowledge, with heart and with the needs of the child firmly at the centre!
With more than 4,500 members, the Atlas Initiative strengthens high-achieving citizens and families. It promotes commercial virtues and policies that favour small and medium-sized businesses. It calls for less bureaucracy and a rollback of the state’s mania for regulation. It stands for reviving the idea of achievement.
