Scholé News – January 2025
Dear friends of Scholé,
In the 7th year of grammar school I had an argument with our biology teacher. It was about the cell and how it multiplies. He had drawn on the board how, after the fusion of egg and sperm cell, it first constricts and then divides, before passing into the morula and blastula stages. I was very impressed, put up my hand and asked the teacher whether he could tell us how this wondrous process could be explained. “I’ve just explained it to you!” he replied irritably. “You described it to us, but you didn’t explain it,” I retorted, and got a minus mark for this “cheeky” remark. It took a long time before I found an answer to my cheeky questions: how does the cell know whether and how to divide? How do the newly formed cells know where they belong – whether they are to form a heart, an eye, a nerve, a muscle, a bone? The university textbooks were more detailed, but there too no distinction was made between description and explanation.
What is life?
Only away from the academic sciences did I come across what I had been searching for in vain: the invisible but all-decisive spiritual element that had always been missing for me at school and at university. At the moment egg and sperm cell fuse, a spiritual field forms – perceptible to clairsentient people – from which comes all the information necessary for new life to arise.
Within materialist thinking, life really cannot be explained at all, because materialists describe living beings no differently from machines. Their thinking is based on a TWO-valued logic that knows only plus or minus, right or left, up or down, good or evil, friend or foe. The computer, too, works on the basis of only TWO numbers, 0 and 1, just like the artificial intelligence that has emerged from it. AI, or artificial intelligence, must therefore never be confused with wisdom! An intelligence agency is a secret service: so AI means control – open or covert control of news and information.
In German, “Zwist” and “Zwietracht”, two rarely used words for strife and division, derive directly from the word ZWEI (two) – much as English speaks of duplicity. A liar speaks with a forked tongue; in German he is also called “doppelzüngig”, double-tongued. Here, then, TWO stands for lies, disunity, division, splitting, opposition, either-or, competition, war. In such a hostile binary world the individual is lost. So he usually joins some group or other in search of protection – groups which by definition must always defend themselves against other groups – and so the vicious circle of fear, division, struggle and war closes.
From duality to polarity
To understand what is alive, we need the sacred number THREE. It stands for the spirit, the divine, wholeness, unity in diversity. As soon as THREE comes into play, the perspective changes. In its light we can understand the duality of irreconcilable opposites as polarities of complementary poles. With two eyes we see only the outer world and feel like separate objects at the mercy of a meaningless fate. The THIRD eye opens our view into our own inner self. In looking inwards we can perceive ourselves as part of a great meaningful whole and become aware of our cosmic connection with all life.
The myths and fairy tales of many peoples tell of three brothers, three sisters, three wishes, three tasks and so on. In them the significance of THREE resonates softly. In some religions it is expressed very clearly. Hindus worship Brahman, the one God, or Shakti, the one life force, in three male and three female forms: in Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer, and in the goddesses Saraswati, Lakshmi and Kali, who symbolise becoming, being and passing away.
Buddhists speak of THREE treasures or THREE jewels: the Buddha, the enlightened one; the Dharma, his teaching; and the Sangha, the community of practitioners. Christians believe in a triune God, represented in the Holy TRINITY of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Interestingly, Jews and Muslims reject the vivid concept of the Trinity and hold to a strict monotheism, which may be connected with the prohibition of images in these religions.
Mathematics as the language of God
Brilliant researchers and inventors such as Nikola Tesla recognised mathematics as the language of God. They discovered a fundamental order underlying all natural processes that can be expressed in numerical ratios. Cells and embryos, but also star constellations, always develop according to the powers of the binary system – 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 and so on. If you take the digit sum of these numbers until you get a single digit (in the case of 256, for example, 2 + 5 + 6 = 13, 1 + 3 = 4), the digit sums of all the powers of 2 give the sequence 1, 4, 8, 5, 7, 2, 1, 4, 8, 5, 7, 2 and so on in endless repetition.
What does not occur in this sequence is the number 3 and its multiples 6 and 9, which Tesla called “the key to the universe”. His successor, the mathematician, esotericist and inventor Marko Rodin, says they are missing there for good reason, because they represent vectors of the 3rd and 4th dimension, also called the “flux field”. By way of mathematics, then, we have arrived back at the spiritual field connecting all life that arises when egg and sperm cell fuse…
More and more people are developing the ability to perceive this invisible field in some way, and more and more scientists are ceasing to deny its existence. This finally clears the way for revolutionary discoveries such as free energy. Such completely new discoveries and inventions, arising from the combination of scientific knowledge and “esoteric” wisdom, could end our artificially created system of scarcity, which is the inevitable consequence of arrogance and greed for money and power.
Buddha nature and Christ consciousness
Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925) predicted this development more than a hundred years ago. Anthroposophy, which he founded (roughly translated, “wisdom of the human being”), brings the divine back to Earth from its banishment to the hereafter. We humans are not supposed to worship a God above the clouds, but to realise the spiritual essence that dwells within us – also called Buddha nature or Christ consciousness – each in our own way, here and now, and so create a paradise on Earth.
Many contemporaries know the name Rudolf Steiner in connection with Waldorf schools, biodynamic agriculture or anthroposophic medicine, which could already be partly realised in his lifetime. Less well known is his concept of a THREEfold social order, which is still a dream of the future. I consider it an invaluable stimulus for learning to think about society anew! In order to change anything outside, we first of all have to get the destructive old system out of our heads and replace it with a constructive new vision.
Liberty, equality, fraternity
The idea of a threefold social order developed by Steiner can most easily be explained using the THREE ideals proclaimed during the French Revolution, which underlie the Declaration of Human Rights: liberty, equality and fraternity. Unfortunately, history has shown that within our current understanding of democracy these ideals are little more than pretty-sounding words; indeed, they even seem to exclude one another. As long as citizens’ interests are represented by parties that fight each other, there is little prospect of fraternity! And how could liberty and equality ever be reconciled?
From the point of view of Rudolf Steiner, who was a great initiate with insight into subtle worlds, liberty, equality and fraternity belong to different forces in society:
- If we want the pursuit of profit to be replaced by concern for the common good, economic life would have to be governed by the ideal of fraternity.
- Every citizen really must be equal before the law, because equality before the law is the basis of justice.
- Liberty, finally, is the necessary precondition for a flourishing cultural and spiritual life: there must be no restrictions on science, art and education beyond the generally applicable laws, so that both the individual and the community can unfold and develop undisturbed
Where is the journey going?
I realise that only loving, mindful people are capable of forming such communities. Unfortunately, it is also clear that our current world order is as unsuited to friendly and loving coexistence as a closed educational institution is to the free unfolding of potential :-)) That is why I think it is so important first of all to step out, in our thinking, of binary concepts such as right and left, which inevitably lead to competition, struggle and war, and to replace them with a peaceful vision such as the threefold social order.
Please dare to ask: what might the world look like if the human labour spent on exploiting people and nature – on weapons, wars, surveillance, control, over-regulation, banks, prestige buildings, state visits, corporate and election advertising, expensive and ineffective medical measures, genetic engineering and so on – were no longer needed? How much time we would have! How healthy and prosperous we would be if citizens invested their ingenuity, time and energy only in beautiful and useful things! How peacefully we could live if we allied with one another instead of against one another!
Steiner’s vision of a holistic social order consisting of THREE interacting members corresponds to the integral nature of the human being, encompassing body, soul and spirit. His idea has now been in the field for over 100 years and is shared and developed further by hundreds of thousands around the world. Every individual who engages confidently with a fundamental reorganisation of society strengthens and condenses this field. Every smallest step towards fraternity, justice and liberty leads us out of the materialists’ degrading struggle for survival and brings us a little closer to a dignified, free and self-determined life together.
Cheerful greetings, Alexandra

2nd edition of “Lernen ist wie Atmen” (Learning is like breathing)

The 2nd edition of our book meets a completely changed readership.
In 2017, the idea that learning outside school was possible at all was considered the eccentric notion of a few outsiders. Since then, all parents, whether they wanted to or not, have had to deal with forms of learning outside school.
The number of children withdrawn from school has exploded since then, and alternative learning projects are springing up like mushrooms.
