Investment in research and development in Yangsan (KR)
Korea is becoming an important strategic base for the development of neutrinovoltaics
1 billion euro investment in research and development in Yangsan • production of neutrinovoltaic panels from 2024 • technology transfer planned • production capacity of 300 GW/year envisaged • Korea selected as main production site • founding of a subsidiary, “NVTIK”
Korea will take on a leading role in the development and production of neutrinovoltaics and is securing a front-row place in manufacturing the technology of the future. In doing so, Korea is making a major contribution to overcoming the energy crisis and is becoming an important pillar in satisfying the global hunger for energy – from renewable sources.
On 2 March, Holger Thorsten Schubart, CEO of the Neutrino® Energy Group, presented a plan in Korea. After test production in Korea in the second half of 2024, mass production of around 30 GW is to begin by 2029, and these capacities are to be increased to around 300 GW a year in the long term. The planned production of up to 300 GW of neutrinovoltaic modules a year is an enormous scale that will shake up the global energy market. Unlike photovoltaics, this technology delivers electricity continuously and is baseload-capable – i.e. 24 hours a day. The scale of the project becomes even clearer when one compares Korea’s national power generation capacity of 130 GW with its national production of conventional solar modules of around 10 GW a year.

According to Neutrino® Energy, the neutrinovoltaic module is a panel that generates electricity with the help of neutrinos and other invisible particles. The panel is a high-tech product that the German Neutrino® Energy Group successfully developed after years of research and that surprised the scientific community.
On 9 January, Holger Thorsten Schubart, CEO of the Neutrino® Energy Group, selected Korea as the research and production site for manufacturing neutrinovoltaic modules and decided to invest one billion euros to found NVTIK (Neutrinovoltaic Technologies & Industries Korea) as a subsidiary in Korea.
The Neutrino® Energy Group will provide NVTIK with all relevant patents and the complete know-how and will grant it exclusive production and distribution rights for the corresponding products in Korea and South-East Asia for 30 years. To promote the planned projects efficiently, a consortium of leading Korean companies, universities, research institutes, financial institutions, venture capitalists and other sectors has been formed.
The Neutrino® Energy Group recently announced a 1 billion euro investment in China through the Korean NVTIK. NVTIK will form a consortium with leading Chinese companies to establish the neutrino energy business together with them, similar to Korea and South-East Asia.

If this plan for a production base for neutrinovoltaic modules is implemented as envisaged, Korea can not only become the first world market leader in clean energy, but will also have an attractive job engine for people in Korea for many years to come, after the semiconductor industry. The country thus has a valuable opportunity to establish itself as a supplier of future high-tech power stations.
